It is that time of year again that every fashion girl (and guy) dreams of…New York Fashion Week! I had the chance to be part of the live streaming team of one of my favorite periscope personalities Lizza Monet Morales (@xoxolizza) as she partnered with DHLExported to give front row access to some of the most sought after runway shows. The DHLExported program is a partnership with IMG that gives designers the opportunity to truly take their brands to the next level.
Designers from all over the world are invited to submit applications to expand their businesses to one of four key retail markets with an export development strategy that includes shipping and logistics assistance, marketing and public relations support, along with an enhanced social and digital platform. In addition, DHL Exported will provide a venue and production costs for designers to debut their collections on-schedule for two consecutive seasons at one of the following trade events: New York Fashion Week, London Fashion Week, Milan Fashion Week or Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Tokyo. Winning designers will be chosen by a global committee of experts based on their demonstrated ability to benefit from the DHL Exported Program.
DHL Exported will underwrite various costs of producing the designers’ show/presentation and provide a model package and full show production team. DHL will deliver the final collection to New York, London, Milan or Tokyo for the designer’s international debut show for two seasons. (via dhlexported.com)
The 3 designers showcased this season were Nicholas K, Marcel Ostertag, and Francesca Liberatore. Thanks to Lizza we were all treated to front row views of the shows as well as behind the scenes interviews with the designers. Some of my personal faves were the crushed velvet manicures at Nicholas K, the raindrop sweaters and military details at Marcel Ostertag, and the draping and leather pieces of Francesca Liberatore. I was also VERY happy to see the inclusion of so many multicultural models as well in all the shows. Periscope has truly given us an insider’s view of what most only see in movies and magazines. Thanks to Lizza and DHLExported for giving us a glimpse of fashion magic!
